Moving through the old and the new
I'm thinking about you as I write this, conscious of where you are and the seasonal energy there - snowing for some of you, height of Summer for others. It's a warm and hazy, almost Spring like, day in Hong Kong. We have a pretty short Winter here but wow it feels good to feel the energy of the sun firing up again. How does the energy feel where you are?
Wherever you are, energy is shifting which leads me to say a bit about transformation and the seasons as it's so potent for many of us right now...
Transformation sounds so grand, so monumental. When in reality, transformation is mostly small and subtle - so subtle that it feels like nothing's happening, like you’re in a void. And these void’s can feel deeply uncomfortable.
When I’m experiencing these voids or periods of subtle transformation (and believe me they are often!) I call them ‘Bardos’. ‘Bardo’ is a Buddhist term that describes the state of existence between two life’s on earth. According to Tibetan tradition, after death and before one’s next birth (before one connects with a new physical body) your consciousness is in a transitional state - a space between, a Bardo.
The transitional space...
It can feel like you’re stuck, bored, like you don’t know what you want (and you really want to know), like you’re in analysis paralysis. You can feel irritable, confused, unsure, like your old ambitions or ways of being don’t fit you anymore - but you don’t know what the new is yet.
So frustrating and really uncomfortable.
Winter can feel a bit like this. In the space between, in rest and hibernation, not much is moving, not much happening (and we’re also in a bit of a collective Global Winter right now with lockdowns and a lot of unknowns).
But just like in Winter in nature, things are changing, new seeds and buds are springing to life underneath the mud and dirt, we just can’t see it happening.
Stick with it.
Know that the energy will change, and you will feel different.
