Day 4

This morning’s practice was a full hour with my teacher and founder of NLMM®, Michaela Boehm.
Even though I’m a certified NLMM® teacher it’s good to be held in a strong container by Michaela, I can let myself go.

After moving what we’re feeling, we’re invited to bring awareness to a place in our body that feels good, pleasurable or has the presence of vitality. My awareness goes to my hands that are placed on my knees as I move my upper body. I play with subtle movement of my hands and feel moments of astonishment that I can feel this subtle pleasure in my hands. It creeps up my arms, this gentle, subtle, discreet sensation, this pleasure.

I’m rooted, with my seat on the mat crossed legged, eyes closed, playing with the subtle sensation of pleasure in my hands and up my arms.

Then we’re guided to a place in the body that feels stuck or tight or contracted, to move in a way that allows our body’s intelligence to release. I feel a bit stuck for a moment, in my head, I want to stay in the pleasure and the softness.

My hands start to move again, and my arms, they move fast and play with tension in the fingers and in my arm and shoulder muscles. I feel that the tension I feel is in my heart, chest and belly, and my arms and hands want to release it.

I notice when I get lost in thought, my body moves how it wants to move without me guiding it. I’m surprised by the movements it makes.

I notice my breath for the first time this morning as my body takes a deeper inhale and exhale.

I move to relaxation, I feel warmth in my upper body, belly and hands. My mind is active.
