What would you like to harvest?

HONOURING THE BIGGER CYCLES OF LIFE AND REAPING WHAT YOU SOW.

I’m becoming more connected over the years to the bigger cycles of life that are continuously turning and shifting, rising and falling, blooming and dying, as we go about our daily modern human lives. (Phenology carries on regardless!).

This month we see the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere - when the length of day and night meets to become equal for a moment and traditionally the harvest season would start - the Mid-Autumn Festival across Asia and the Spring Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.

Not so long ago these cyclical points in the bigger picture of our environment were honoured and sacred.

They were, and still are, seen as times where we naturally connect to forces and energy bigger than ourselves, setting intentions and prayers for an abundant harvest or blooming crops.

While in business and leadership, our focus starts to narrow and shifts to getting things completed before year-end, comp season for most is underway and promotion conversations for the new year are being finalised.

To avoid completely losing yourself in the busyness and sight of the bigger picture at this focused time of year, you can practice holding these perspectives and working with both.

The harvest is the time when you reap what you sow, when you gather the fruits of your labour and your crops are ripe.

Take some time this month to honour the natural shift at this time of the year. Make space for some quiet sacred time one morning, over tea or coffee, with a pen and paper, and ask yourself what would I like to harvest this season? and if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, what seeds would I like to sow?

For you, your team and beyond.
