Get grounded

Everything's urgent, you're running from one thing to the next, people aren't doing what you've asked them to do, your mind is racing and there's a tight, anxious feeling in your chest.

When you feel overwhelmed and stressed like this, it can mean your Vata energy has got out of whack. A quick practice you can do to get back into balance is to get grounded.

Take a seat, somewhere, anywhere.

(If you can take you shoes and socks off and feel the ground beneath your feet, even better, if not, continue anyway...)

Allow your hands to rest on your knees or gently in your lap.

Close your eyes.

Take a deep inhale through the nose.

Exhale slowly through the mouth.

Notice your seat or your feet in contact with the floor beneath you.

Visual your feet and your body rooting down into the earth's surface.

Take another deep inhale through the nose.

Exhale slowly through the mouth.

Open your eyes.

Continue with your day.
