Doing from your being

Feels like months already but actually it was just three weeks ago that I started the new calendar year in silent meditation for three days. As always it was an opportunity to sit with myself, no external distractions, to observe, feel and connect more deeply with myself and what's important.

It was in between meditations, I was lying down on my little camp bed in the dorm, no talking, no phone, no books, no pen & paper, just me, myself and I, that I realised over the past several years it's becoming more natural for me to do from my being, instead of be from my doing.

I could describe what that means for me but I wanted to let that sit with you. What does it mean to you, if anything?  Do you be from your doing or do from your being? What comes more naturally to you? Is it even important?

Why might it matter at work, in relationships or in leadership?

Would love to hear how it lands for you. I'll write more on this but I share it now because tea and tea ceremony and meditation has been one of those things that has helped me learn to do more from my being, and that's why 'Tea' is episode #04 and one of those 'Big Little Things' that Laura Beckingham and I discuss on our new podcast Big Little Things.  If you haven't listened in yet, you can find us on Spotify, Apple and all the usual podcast platforms.

As we head into the weekend and take a few days off here in Hong Kong to celebrate theLunar New Year, I'm wishing you a restful break with your loved ones and some time to be.
